Passage: Genesis 4:9–16
After the murder of Abel, we see both the justice and the mercy of God in the consequences received by Cain (Genesis 4:9-16). Once again, we see that nothing is hidden from God. Because of his sin, Cain is forced into exile, but in God's mercy, he is also given a mark to keep him safe, with a promise that anyone who harms him will receive vengeance "sevenfold."
